INDIAN HANDICRAFT PROMOTION IN CHINA

In continuation of our endeavour to promote Indian artisans in China, ICEC participated in the 2017 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo held in Dongguan (Guangdong) from 21-24 September, 2017.

The products displayed included Lac Bangles, Stoles (Pashmina & Cotton), Madhubani Paintings, IKAT Silk Garments, Miniature Painting, Bandhni Stoles & Kurtas, Lifestyle Products, Natural Cosmetics, Jute Bags, Pashmina shawls and stoles, Carpets, Stoneware, Metal Handicrafts, home furnishing etc.
Our main focus was on hand made products which is the strength of the Indian handicraft industry. Many of the artisans even demonstrated their skill at the expo. Chief among these were the Lac Bangle maker from Rajasthan, The Miniature painting maker from Rajasthan, Madhubani painting from Bihar. Demonstrations done by the artisans drew large crowds and were highly appreciated by the Chinese people.

The delegation covered the entire length and breadth of the country from Kashmir in the north to Andhra Pradesh in the south and from Gujarat in the west to Assam in the east. The delegation was well received in China and our artisans also had a firsthand experience of international market.
ICEC regularly participates in many such expos on request of the Chinese provincial governments and will continue to do so in the future.
