Growing Concerns


India and China together comprise almost half the population of world. However, China is almost three times larger in size than India. In terms of agriculture, India is the second largest nation in terms of farm output. China produces, 18 per cent of world’s cereal, 29 per cent of world’s meat, and 50 per cent of world’s vegetables. Although, China has attained a high degree of grain sufficiency (about 95 per cent) and remains a net food exporter, there are serious signs of food insecurities emerging in the last decade.
