Madhya Pradesh Delegation’s Study Tour to China (August, 2012)
India China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC) organized a Study Tour to China for the High level delegation from the state of Madhya Pradesh in August 2012. The delegation was led by Mr. Gopal Bhargava, Honorable Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. The other delegates were, Mrs. Aruna Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner; Mr. L.M. Belwal, CEO, M.P. State Livelihood forum; Mr. Neeraj Mandloi, Commissioner, SEGC, Bhopal; Mr. H.P. Shivhare, Chief Engineer, Rural Employment Scheme; Mr. R.M. Goantia, Chief Engineer, Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority
The tour was undertaken with the primary objective of providing first hand learning and experience sharing by senior executives in the area of providing enhanced jump up to livelihood opportunities with increased income to rural population by means of Developing rural support infrastructure, Marketing systems, Governmental policy initiative and various other interventions.
Spanning three cities, the delegation met with both Chinese government and rural leaders in an effort to learn from a success model of development. These meetings allowed the delegation to gather information on how to adapt technologies, business model and marketing strategies in their own state, following the successful Chinese models.
Starting in Guangzhou, the delegation met with officials from the department of fisheries of the Government of China. Here, they had an opportunity to discuss ways and means of improving the Indian fisheries and sericulture industry, using methods employed by the Chinese. Additionally, the delegation learnt ways of increasing rice and paddy production. The Chinese are currently ranked as the world highest per capita rice producers, producing 26% of the global production.
In Shenzhen, the second leg of the trip, the delegation had a chance to interact with the Guangdong industrial Cooperation Association (GICA). Through the association, the delegation visited the local furniture market and distribution center discussing adoptability of this industry in their own state. In the discussion, the association showed interest in increasing further relation with Madhya Pradesh by developing a common platform for future interactions. It was agreed that an industrial summit should be organized in October of this year. The summit will also include an exhibition, though at a later date.
The delegation’s last stop was Beijing where it was met by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The delegation learnt and understood the ways by which China has developed it rural population by using modern technologies and notably ICT in Agriculture.
The meet resulted in an agreement between officials of either country on technology transfers and bilateral cooperation in the field of agricultural production as well as a promise of continuing discussions to improve the bilateral relationship between the state of Madhya Pradesh and China.

Interaction Meeting with a Business Delegation from Zhejiang Department of Commerce - September, 2012
ICEC recently hosted a 15 member Chinese Business delegation from Zhejiang Department of Commerce in Bangalore. The purpose of their visit was to further strengthen the understanding of the service outsourcing industry and learn to undertake international service outsourcing experience in order to promote the service outsourcing enterprises to develop outsourcing market.
During their visit, ICEC organized their visit to Tata Consultancy Limited Campus where they had a meeting with Mr. Karthi Madhavan, Regional Head of TCS.
ICEC also organized an interaction meeting of this delegation with IT/ITES companies in Bangalore. The interaction meeting was felicitated by Mr. MN Vidyashankar, Karnataka’s principal secretary of industries and commerce. During his address, Mr Vidyashankar said the Karnataka government has major plans for turning Bangalore into a manufacturing hub for IT related industry and that the state government had already allocated land for the purpose near the Bangalore International Airport. Mr Jairaj, head of ICEC’s Bangalore Chapter, said, “We are in discussion with the state government to send a delegation to China led by senior bureaucrats and industry representative for a fruitful business and cultural exchange between the two countries. The Chinese delegation was extremely happy with the business exchange during its visit to Bangalore and would like to undertake more such visits.”

High level Delegation from China Electronics Corporation – January, 2012
India China Economic and Cultural Council hosted a High level delegation from China Electronics Corporation in January, 2012. The delegation was led by Mr. Liu Hongzhou, General Manager, Shenzhen SED Electronics Group. Co. Ltd. and comprised of senior officials from the company. SED Electronics Group Company Ltd, a large-scale state owned enterprise, is formed by CEC. SED has 18 wholly-owned and shareholding enterprises, including listed China’s Shenzhen Stock Exchange. SED Electronics Group Company Ltd. was rated as “one of the 500 top SOEs” by Administration of State-assets Bureau in 1995 and “a prominent technological renovator in Guangdong Province”in 1999. Moreover, it was awarded the title of “national technique center” by National Committee of Economy and Commerce in 2000.It tanked the 428th place of the 500 excellent enterprises of China in 2006.It is also awarded “one of the 100 excellent electronics companies in China” for 19 year running.The purpose of their visit was to understand Indian business environment, economic situation and the future direction of China-India cooperation, with specific focus on the electronics industry. They also wanted to explore the business opportunities in Indian Electronics market.
During their visit, ICEC organized their meetings with Observer Research Foundation (ORF) & ICRIER to give them a clear understanding of Indian Economy and investment policies. ICEC also organized their meeting with the local distributors of electronics products in India to discuss the possibilities of working with SED Group.

Study Tour to China and Hong Kong for Federation of Andhra Pradesh Small Industries Association (FAPSIA) - July, 2011
The India China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC) organized a study cum business tour to China and Hong Kong for a 25 member delegation of Federation of Andhra Pradesh Small Industries Association (FAPSIA) in July, 2011.
The delegation was led by Dr. V. Hanumantha Rao, President, FAPSIA and it comprised of the prominent industrialists from the membership of FAPSIA. The purpose of this delegation’s visit was to explore the business opportunities in China in the three sectors; Plastics; General engineering/fabrication; & Foundry. During the visit period, ICEC organized several meetings with the relevant companies and industry associations apart from the industrial visits.
During the study tour, the delegation also visited ProPak China 2011, in Shanghai, which is the premier trade exhibition for packaging and processing technologies in China. The Delegation has come with lots of information & business leads with regard to Development of their business, which will help them not only in their business but also to Andhra Pradesh Region in generation of employment and new projects.
