Celebrations of Chinese New year 2016

W020160219569852520680Chinese Acrobatic Show brings forth the sight of Chinese culture and festive mood of Chinese New Year 2016 in New Delhi – organised by Chinese Embassy in India and ICEC Council

New Delhi, February 18th, 2016: Chinese Acrobatic Show, Programmed by Gansu Province Acrobatic Troupe, China took place on 18th February, 2016 at FICCI K.K. Birla Auditorium, Tansen Marg, New Delhi. It was organized by Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of India, in association with China National Tourist Office and India China Economic and Cultural Council.

It was organized to mark “China-India Tourism Year 2016” and celebrate “Chinese New Year 2016”. The aim of this cultural evening was to present a slice of Chinese cIMG_1717ulture to the friends in India, and to strengthen bilateral cultural cooperation between the two nations. China and India have a rich tradition of commerce which has been well documented in the historical archives. The well-established commercial relation soon broadened into a prosperous exchange in cultural values also, maybe because of the deep rooted philosophical similarity in both cultures.

When asked, Mr. Zhang Zhihong, Cultural Counsellor, Embassy of China in India said ‘On this happy occasion of the Chinese Lunar New Year, the year of Monkey, I would like to extend our warmest New Year greetings to you. We wish to share the auspicious festival atmosphere of Chinese New Year and wish you all a prosperous and successful Chinese New Year.  

Adding further to the spirit of the occasion, Mr. Mohammed Saqib, Secretary General, India China Economic and Cultural Council thanked one and all present at the show and promised on bringing the two nations closer through such cultural evenings in the next 5 years. 

The evening was attended by His Excellency Le Yucheng, Chinese Ambassador to India, Professor Lokesh ChIMG_1911andra, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Dr. Aruna Sharma, Secretary – Electronics and IT, Ministry of Communications and IT.

The Gansu Acrobatic Troupe from China presented an array of performances like – Martial Arts, Slipping into Buckets, Small Balance Boards. Lifting Jars, Hand plant. Standing Ropes, Whipping Skill, Straw Hats, Rolling Hoops, Lifting Skill, Kicking Bowls, Rolling Lamps. Silk Rope Hanging, Contortion and Burlesque Show.
